26/04/2018. My first Nightingale of 2018

Abbot's Wood, East Sussex

As usual, I saw my first Nightingale of the year,  at Abbots Wood, just down the A22 from here near Hailsham.

• I took the opportunity of an evening visit and was rewarded with a very obliging male which sang for a period of 20 minutes or more,  just 5 to 10 metres from me.
• The views weren't so good but that didn't really matter when the singing was so fantastic.

The first of many I hope!
