With Shaun at Water Woods, Arundel and then West Dean Woods
Another good day out - this time with Shaun in West Sussex. He was particularly keen to see Firecrests and Hawfinches.
Water Woods, Arundel, West Sussex
- No problem with Firecrest on this site. We saw at least 2 and heard more.
West Dean Woods
- We saw a Hawfinch early on as we made our way towards Monkton Farm It was sitting at the very top of a tall, bare tree so the view was superb. Unfortunately, we didn't see any others afterwards.
- Shaun spotted at least 2 Brambling among the Chaffinch flock.
- 2 Red Kites flew majestically close.
- A Sparrowhawk provided me with my fifth year tick of the afternoon.
A really enjoyable trip with some good birding.
