Knepp Estate
Our, now annual, visit to the Knepp Estate attracted 14 members and we were rewarded with a good birding day and a species count of just over 50. Although we missed out on the star act, the supporting cast proved more than up to the task and provided suitable compensation.
- Turtle Doves had been reported several times recently - indeed Terry and Alan had seen 2 and heard another just one week previously - but, try as we may, we were unable to get a sniff of one!
- The Cuckoo was much more obliging and we were able to get good views from the outset.
- A Hobby flying overhead caused quite a stir.
- A Red Kite, seen late morning, was also a welcome sight.
- We were delighted to stumble across 2 Nightingales en-route.
I love this place!
