RSPB Minsmere, Suffolk
We had an excellent coach trip to Minsmere with the East Grinstead RSPB Local Group, managing a species count of 77.
- Top of the bill went to the stone curlew that we saw soon after we entered the reserve. It was foraging at the edge of the field in the distance.
- Bitterns were the most pleasing species seen today. We saw at least 3 both in flight and on the ground at the edges of the reedbed.

- Minsmere is also a good place to see hobbies and we saw at least 6 today, high in the skies above us.
- The weather today was warm and dry with very little wind - ideal for seeing bearded tits. We were not disappointed with regular sightings at several places on the reserve.
- Other species of interest included garden warbler, cuckoo, marsh harrier and sand martin
2023 species count = 168
