Knepp Estate - Nightingale Survey

Knepp Estate, Sussex

Martin and I hit the road at 04.45 to make sure we were at Knepp in time for the survey start time of 06.00.  We were joined by Tom, one of their employees.

• We managed to find 4 nightingale territories on our patch - the birds were in fine voice.
• We could hear the cuckoo but I didn't manage to see it. 
• There were at least 3 lesser whitethroats on show this morning.
• The white storks were showing well on their nests and we also had good flight views.
• A gorgeous male bullfinch was also seen.
